Cllr Graham Campbell
Councillor Graham Campbell represents the Springburn/Robroyston Ward on Glasgow City Council. Elected in May 2017, he was Glasgow’s first African Caribbean Councillor.
He is a member of the following Council committees:
- Education, Skills and Early Years City Policy Committee
- General Purposes City Policy Committee
He also represents the Council on –
- Strathclyde Partnership for Transport
- Safe Glasgow Partnership
- Glasgow Humane Society
A musician, poet and cultural producer of 30 years standing, he was instrumental in Glasgow City Council holding its first ever official Black History Month event hosted by the Lord Provost in October 2017.
He was elected to the NEC of the Scottish National Party in October 2019 as the party’s first ever BAME Convener. He also sits on the party’s Social Justice and Fairness Commission.
‘I try to bring energy, dynamism and experience with my background in BAME community development, leading campaigns around poverty, active citizenship within African, Caribbean, Asian communities building close working relationships with refugee communities. I am an active supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement in Glasgow and helped organise some of the first such events in 2015 at the time of the Ferguson rebellion.’
