Code of Conduct

1. Selflessness

When carrying out the business of the NABAEMC, Officers and other Executive Committee Members should act solely in the interest of its membership. They should not do so in order to gain financial or other benefits for themselves, their family or their friends.

2. Integrity

When carrying out the business of the NABAEMC, Officers and other Executive Committee Members should not place themselves under any financial or other obligation to outside individuals or groups that might seek to influence them in the performance of their duties on behalf of its membership.

3. Objectivity

When carrying out the business of the NABAEMC, including making
appointments, awarding contracts, or recommending individuals for rewards and benefits,
Officers and other Executive Committee Members should make choices on merit.

4. Accountability

When carrying out the business of the NABAEMC, Officers and other Executive Committee Members are accountable to the Executive Committee and the general membership for their decisions and actions and must be prepared to answer questions and provide explanations.

5. Openness

When carrying out the business of the NABAEMC, Officers and other Executive Committee Members should be as open as possible about all the decisions and actions they take. They should give reasons for their decisions and restrict information only when it is in the interest of the general membership to do so.

6. Honesty

When carrying out the business of the NABAEMC, Officers and other Executive Committee Members have a duty to declare any private interests relating to their organisational responsibilities and to take steps to resolve any conflicts arising in a way that protects the interests of its membership.

7. Leadership

When carrying out the business of the NABAEMC, Officers and other Executive Committee Members should promote and support these principles by leadership and example.

8. Equality & Diversity

When carrying out the business of the NABAEMC, Officers and other Executive Committee Members should challenge unlawful discrimination, promote equality and work in ways that demonstrate their commitment to respecting difference and valuing diversity.

Note: The Executive Committee shall have the right to determine that a breach of this Code of Conduct amounts to good and sufficient reason to remove a Committee member from office and/or terminate his or her membership of the Association subject to the relevant provisions of the Constitution.
